Who is Abundant by Nature ?

Ludovic Bourdon is the driving force behind Abundant by Nature. A former urban farmer who used natural growing methods, he became inspired when he took an introductory permaculture course with Element Eco-Design in Vernon, B.C. When he saw how permaculture made a connection between all the elements, he began to dream big about the possibilities.

Ludovic realized that small-scale farming demanded hard work yet provided minimal societal and ecological impact. After completing his first Permaculture Design Certificate with Verge Permaculture in British Columbia, Canada, Ludovic participated in a permaculture project in Burkina Faso and seeing the difference that sustainable design could make in an extremely impoverished region, he found his niche in the regenerative agriculture world and became committed to furthering his training and doing as many aid projects as he could.

He completed Geoff Lawton’s online Permaculture Design Certificate, did an advanced practicum with Verge Permaculture in Invermere, B.C. Canada, and went to Kenya, Uganda and Zanzibar with Seven Ravens Permaculture Academy. More recently, in the Philippines he took part of the Aid Permaculture Leadership training at the Green Warrior Eco-Farm. He also completed Soil Biology/Compost courses, installed food forests and more. Full qualifications here

Ludovic is passionate about presenting regenerative agriculture options in a way that is accessible and practical, and he takes great joy in helping empower communities to develop greater resilience.

Ludovic founded Abundant by Nature to offer on the ground regenerative agriculture consultancy and training, as well as map base main frame design for various size projects. From the very large scale to the small regenerative projects.

Ludovic is greatly supported by his wife, Tammie Brooks, who shares his passion for making a difference in the lives of others. Together they plan to impact as many people and as many communities throughout the world. Now that Abundant by Nature is in full swing, check out our projects.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Abundant by Nature, we believe that care for the earth and care for the people go hand in hand if we want to restore a thriving eco system. Aid work is our primary focus. It is where we believe we can have the biggest impact and where our expertise it is most needed. Working in partnership with local community members in impoverished regions of the world, we create projects that increase community self-sustenance and resilience.

Our projects are community-based and function on a grassroots level. We strive to create regenerative agriculture designs that are easily replicated so that increased resilience in one community can spread to increased resilience in many communities. As projects are all designed to bring ease and surplus to the community, we use existing resources and build systems that require minimal labour to maintain. Even if our goal over time is to remove as much use of machinery as we can, on large scale the use of big machinery may be temporarily required to reset the landscape into a regenerative cycle. On all our projects, the local population or farm staff are always deeply involved to learn new farming practices.
